As a young man, I decided to move my entire life to Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania from Milford, Delaware. With no contacts in the area, I started my contracting journey as a painter, working odd jobs with the dream of becoming a custom home builder. After years of growing my painting company, I decided it was finally time to chase my dream and take a leap of faith. I went to the hardware store and bought all of my first tools, maxing out my only credit line at the time. I had nothing but a dream. A dream to bring the best possible home to each and every one of my clients. I have put my blood, sweat and tears into finding the best possible way to make my clients dream home come to life.

5 years ago I married an SRU professor and left behind the home I had just remodeled in Maryland. We bought a plot of land in Slippery Rock, but didn’t know who we would get to build our dream home for our new family of 8. Then I visited the house of a friend in Poplar Forest and was blown away by the craftsmanship, detail, beauty and creative touches in every corner of her home. I knew I wanted my house designed and built by the same person that constructed her home. Of course, it was JP Howard! 

I described to JP my former home and he found a plan that had everything I wanted and more. I was not the easiest client to work for as I kept coming up with new ideas and additions I wanted to add to the plan; but he was patient and accommodating. For example, I told him I wanted a “hobbit door” and he found me the most beautiful front door with a circle motif that has been the perfect focal point. He also created for me an exquisite fireplace and mantle in my front room. He used lots of wood and rock both on the outside and inside of my home to give it a natural, comfortable and cozy feel. When my husband wanted an outdoor pickle ball court with lighting, JP figured out how to do it and created the best looking court in the county. 

In addition to his talent, he is a joy to work with. Every member of his team is competent, hardworking and respectful. JP finds the best materials at the best price; and if there are any minor hiccups along the way, he resolves them ASAP. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
